£165 Thrice Is Nice
A composition where I set up three pears standing straight and proud but not all perfect. I took the earthy palette and enhanced it to create this piece with a strong definition between the shadows and the subjects. Acrylic painting on a cradled wooden board
c. 25cms x 20cms x 5cms Framed

£125 One Lump Or Two
Another charity shop find from years ago of a stoneware sugar bowl. Painting this because of its colour and shape was an easy choice along with the use of a shadowy composition. Acrylic painting on a canvas sheet
c. 21cms x 30cms Mounted

£125 Milk Anyone ll
Inspired by a jug I had picked up in a charity shop many years ago that I recently rediscovered in a cupboard. I use the same earthy palette and play with shadows to create a gentle but powerful piece. Acrylic painting on a canvas sheet
c. 21cms x 30cms Mounted

£195 Milk Anyone
The same earthy palette but using more of the pale and buff colours to create more light than shade. A jug I had picked up in a charity shop years ago that I rediscovered and found just when I was looking for more pottery inspiration. Acrylic painting on a cradled wooden board
c. 23cms x 28cms x 5cms Framed

SOLD A Remembered Moment l
A painting inspired by a bowl made by my father that I found during some clearing out. It just reminded me of him and how he was so interested in this new hobby he started after he retired. It had a chip on the rim and I kept it, felt right. Using light and my own earthy colour palette they were so easy to paint.
Acrylic painting on a wooden panel.

£195 No.39 Varieties
Three windfall apples from a neighbours tree. This year there was a bounty of fruit and I have made alot of apple stew this autumn. I wanted to mark this by painting the apples I had picked of the ground and from the heavy branches full of fruit. Acrylic on a cradled wooden board
c. 28cms x 23cms x 5cms Framed

£195 Ready for the Winter
A painting inspired by a bronze age bipartite bowl that I had made a while ago. It is a tiered bowl with a shoulder that separates it into two areas. It was used for storage and also in funerary rites. The bowl was not perfect but I loved painting it.
Acrylic painting on a wooden panel.
c. 22cms x 28cms x 5cms Framed

SOLD Shaped By Clay ll
A tiered bowl - neolithic bipartite earthenware handmade by myself a few years ago was the inspiration for this piece. I wanted a warm painting to suggest the land, the earth from where the clay came from. I chose a warmer palette than I would normally use. Acrylic painting on a cradled wooden board

£475 Ancient Offerings
A bowl and apples painted over a foundation of ancient rock art markings I had etched into the gesso layer. The bowl was important in funerary sites found with other artefacts.
Acrylic on cradled wooden panel
64cms x 47cms Framed

£195 Showing Up ll
I had found a few crabapples lying on the ground during a cliff path walk during August. The crab apple timber is pinkish in colour used in wood turning, its bark was used in dying wool and it is a natural pectin for making jam Acrylic on a cradled wooden board
c. 28cms x 23cms x 5cms Framed

£365 Far From The Tree lll
This composition of the three apples in a mix of shadow and light was just too powerful not to paint. Not the usual colour of apples but I used the purple and its complimentary colour of yellow on the colour wheel to create a strong contrast. I just wanted to create an intense image. Acrylic on a cradled wooden board
c. 35cms x 48cms x 5cms Framed

A simple painting of a stoneware jug playing with light and shade. i was inspired to paint this when it was found at the back of a cupboard and loved its shape and such a contrast of colour.

SOLD Showing Up
The crab apple is simple but a nice form that I loved painting. One of them has come out of the shadow and is glowing while the other stays back in the shade. A bit like ourselves at times afraid to change and at other times 'showing up'.

In art the apple can symbolise innocence and knowledge. I like to play with light and shadows and it's as if this apple has fallen into the undergrowth.

A coarseware rustic jug that I had found in a charity shop was the inspiration for this piece. The way it melts into the shadow really interested me and by using this palette I feel helped exaggerate these darker values. Acrylic painting on a cradled wooden board
