A painting inspired by a bowl made by my father that I found during some clearing out. It just reminded me of him and how he was so interested in this new hobby he started after he retired. It had a chip on the rim and I kept it, felt right. Using light and my own earthy colour palette they were so easy to paint.

Three windfall apples from a neighbours tree. This year there was a bounty of fruit and I have made alot of apple stew this autumn. I wanted to mark this by painting the apples I had picked of the ground and from the heavy branches full of fruit. Acrylic on a cradled wooden board

A painting inspired by a bronze age bipartite bowl that I had made a while ago. It is a tiered bowl with a shoulder that separates it into two areas. It was used for storage and also in funerary rites. The bowl was not perfect but I loved painting it.

Not the usual colour of apples but I used the purple and its complimentary colour of yellow on the colour wheel to create a strong contrast. I just wanted to create an intense image. The crab apple is simple but a nice form that I loved painting. One of them has come out of the shadow and is glowing while the other stays back in the shade. A bit like ourselves at times afraid to change and at other times 'showing up'.
