These sculptures have been inspired by Ireland's prehistory and most are sculpted from ancient bogpine taken from her bogs off the west coast of Ireland by the artist herself. This wood has been dated by Queen's University Belfast to c. 5,000 years old or 3,000 BC. The bases are bronze and some features are highlighted in 24 carat gold

We have artefacts from our prehistoric past but what did it sound like? The 'whistle hole' feature, a feature found in prehistoric Stone Heads e.g Cor;eck Head, Co. Cavan. The why is speculative but maybe it was needed to attached something. I have used this feature by the ear as part of my question - what did they hear?

A fourheaded carving inspired by known multi head carvings e.g Corleck Head, County Cavan. The piece was also burnt to reflect the bogbody phenomenon in its discolouration where the acids and lack of oxygen both preserve but also darkens the skin (click for inspiration)

The carving is of a gaping mouth facing backwards towards its past crying out to the people who lived during prehistoric Ireland. This area is gilded to highlight the importance to the artist of this feature

A bogpine sculpture suggestive of the stone carvings found on Boa Island, Co. Fermanagh.  You can see the crossed arms as seen on the statues and gilded holes to represent the whistle holes as found on Irish prehistoric stone heads

£565 Bronze Head

Inspired by the Iron age bog body phenomenon. The head is distorted and compressed after millennia lying in the bog. The bronze was darkened to represent the 'tanning' process within the bog that preserves but also darkens the skin. Rock art markings can be found throughout the piece (click for inspiration)
